Success Story: Meet Perry

Hi there! I'm Perry, a Global Project Manager for Scoober. I have been working within Just Eat Takeaway.com now for 5 years and started as a courier next to my Organic Chemistry studies.

I used to live in Groningen, The Netherlands, at the time. I was walking around when the orange colour caught my eye. I turned around and there they were: for the first time in Groningen, Thuisbezorgd.nl Couriers! I immediately wanted to also cycle around on orange e-bikes and so, I made my way home to apply. After my onboarding, I worked as a Courier for a couple of months and was pretty interested in becoming a Courier Captain, because I wanted to help others have the same experience I did, so I became a Captain. I didn't stop there, because now, I wanted to help Couriers a bit more and I started helping out in the hub. I became a Hub Assistant.

After my studies, I moved to The Hague and got offered a position as Courier Coordinator in Amsterdam. I was very interested in improving existing ways of working and making the hub more efficient, which led to me being promoted to Senior Courier Coordinator, where I assisted the City Operation Manager in overseeing the team and ensuring the Hub operated smoothly.

At the same time, since I didn't know in which field I wanted to end up, I supported various departments, such as Health & Safety and Recruitment, via my manager at that time. However, after working on a couple of projects, I noticed I like Project Management, which led to me expressing this interest to my manager and kick starting my journey into Project Management. Over the next period, I became more involved in projects, set up the Project Management Department for Scoober The Netherlands, led my own Project Management Team and crossed into Global Project Management!

I can say that I was very enthusiastic about being a Courier and taking that enthusiasm along with me really helped in getting me to where I am in the company today.
